HHA jobs in Florida are growing quickly! Home Health Aides make an extraordinary difference for patients that are sick, elderly or disabled. Baby boomers are projected to have a growing need for home health aides who can assist with household chores, activities of daily living and companionship. With the change in health insurance and the advancement of the Affordable Care Act, the demand for home health care is rising. Home care is typically less expensive than nursing home or hospital care. It allows patients and seniors to heal and remain in their home for as long as possible. As a result, the Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts brisk employment opportunities for home health care of about 48.5 percent between 2012 and 2022, which translates into more than 424,200 new home health aide positions created over the next decade (“Home Health Aide Job Overview | Best Jobs | US News Careers,” 2014).
The home health aide helps with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, and helping to keep homes safe and clean. For those patients who might otherwise require a higher level of care, HHAs give the opportunity to stay at home and heal in the comfort of familiar surroundings. In fact, Home Health Aides are with their patients so often that, in many instances, they become like family members. “Many of our patients will think of their [home health aide] as the nurse that really cured them because he or she helped them do the things they needed to do to get well,” says Andrea Devoti, chairman of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (“Home Health Aide Job Overview | Best Jobs | US News Careers,” 2014).
